Yet another remimder to myself

Two things happened the past week.

Stpm 2009 results was yesterday.
Physics have dropped to a truly miserable 1.85. That is from 2.92 in 2007, 2.33 in 2008. In 2007, it was the TOP subject. Now, its third from LAST.
The more miserable thing about it, is that it was EXPECTED. Which was why I was more happy than disappointed yesterday, happy for those who did worked hard.

Another thing that happened was the inovasi thingy. I needed to do a pre-test post-test thing about effectiveness of StpmWiki. But... the post test actually turn up worse.

Sigh... yet the good thing about it, is all these just proved that I was right all along. The most important factor is whether I can get them to work hard.

Take physics... the materials used are exactly the same in 2007 vs 2009. Exactly. But in 2007, I made every one of them stay for tutorials, I made them do the exercises in the text book. In 2009, my effort in that aspect can be considered NIL. And I had 21 students in 2007, only 11 in 2009.

As for StpmWiki, well.... it turned out that what the target group did (average & weak students ) was just simply copied the solutions to pass up. Thus, it didn't really made any difference at all.

The conclusion is simple. StpmWiki is just a tool. I still need to force them to stay and study. There is just simply no two ways about it.
But it is still a pretty neat tool. Right now, two student (average student who got poor results cause they didn't really do the homework) is sitting in the staff room and studying the lessons they didn't attend, and doing the homework. One using netbook, one using ipod.
And I am here typing this blog, as I don't really need to teach them much.

Hmm... this might just work.
